Thailand 4.0 is the vision of Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and his government to transform the economy towards value-based economy driven by creativity and innovation.

His Excellency Dr. Suvit Maesincee, Deputy Minister of Commerce delivered a special talk on “Thailand 4.0” on 30 August 2016 at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT).

Dr. Suvit summarized Thai Economy 4.0 into three points: competitive growth engine (create innovative products utilizing new technologies); inclusive growth engine (well-distributed wealth through innovation-driven economy); and green growth engine (sustainable growth aligned with Sustainable Development Goals).

The Minister encouraged AIT to play a significant role in achieving the goals of Thailand 4.0 through its global network so that the country can achieve regional and global connectivity. AIT’s contribution can span the areas of technology, policy to action, and regional cooperation. He also advised AIT to remain focused on core strengths- academics and research.

An exhibition was held outside the auditorium showcasing selected projects and initiatives related to innovation including Naturally Acceptable and Technological Sustainable (NATS) projects led by Dr. Thammarat Koottatep, Innovation Center at AIT Solutions headed by Dr. Naveed Anwar, and Smart-Feed Project by Dr. Mongkol Ekpanyapong and Dr. Matthew Dailey.
