Honorable Mr. Rana Tanveer Hussain, Minister of Science and Technology, Pakistan and Mr. Khalid Siddiq, Joint Technological Adviser, Ministry of Science met with the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) delegation headed by Dr. Naveed Anwar, Executive Director, AIT Solutions at the Regional Headquarters of UNESCAP, Bangkok.

The meeting also attended by H.E. Ambassador of Pakistan to Thailand, Dr. Sohail Khan was held to discuss further opportunities of collaboration and strengthen the cooperation between Higher Education Commission, Pakistan and AIT.

During the meeting, Dr. Naveed Anwar elaborated the work of AIT and its role as a regional leader in research and development.  He proposed to increase cooperation between Higher Education Commission, Pakistan and AIT, by initiating a faculty exchange program to complement the ongoing student exchange programs.  The officials appreciated Dr. Naveed’s proposal and assured to pursue it further. Minister Hussain noted that AIT is known as one of the best institutes in the region and has played a key role in enhancing organizational capacity building in Pakistan through training courses, which provide an opportunity for government officials and civil servants to learn and adapt to new developments.

Other participants from AIT included Mr. Salman Ali Suhail, Doctoral Student, Geotechnical & Earth Resource Engineering, AIT; Mr. Muhammad Danish, President, Pakistan Student Association, AIT; and Ms. Sobia Asghar.
