Sy^2 + Associates, a leading structural engineering firm in the Philippines, awarded its fifth Structural Performance Based Evaluation project for Acqua Private Residences Livingstone Iguazu Tower to AIT Consulting.

Acqua Iguazu is the fifth tower to rise within Century Properties’ 2.4-hectare Acqua Private Residences project located in Mandaluyong City following the four previous Acqua towers: Niagara, Sutherland, Dettifoss, and Livingstone. The Iguazu tower is unique from the other Acqua towers, as it will be interior-designed by Philippe Starck, the most renowned living designer, in collaboration with the UK-based design and development company Yoo, founded by Starck and John Hitchcox, an international property developer. The Acqua Iguazu is the first residential tower in the Philippines to be interior designed by Starck, and will be the latest addition to his portfolio of highly distinctive interior design projects around the world. While the entire Acqua development features a rainforest-infused design theme for the total of 6 residential buildings, Iguazu tower will be focusing on Starck’s 3 interior inspirations: Minimal, Nature, and Culture.

The Tower will be a reinforced concrete building supported by a pile foundation, while the structural system of the building will be a dual system, comprised of shear walls with a special moment-resisting frame. AIT Consulting will be conducting structural performance based evaluation of the building to determine whether the overall performance and reliability of the building under the effects of gravity and lateral loadings will satisfy public safety requirements.
